The duvet cover is used in Europe as often as Americans use a comforter. A duvet cover is a decorative cover for your comforter. The duvet does the same thing a pillowcase does on a pillow. It protects the comforter from getting worn, old and dirty.
When buying a duvet set always pay close attention to the measurements of both the duvet and the comforter. It is best to purchase the duvet cover with the same measurements of the comforter or 2-3 inches larger than the comforter. Buying a duvet too small for the comforter will make the bedding look very bulky. If the duvet is too big the comforter will shift around like fish in water.
Duvet bedding is so much easier to clean than comforters. You save a lot more money cleaning duvet covers than a comforter set.
